Do you wish you could regain the energy, strength, balance and mobility you had in your younger years? Or, are you living with joint pain or stiffness and want to address this to allow for a more productive and pain-free life? Well, if the answer to either of these is yes, then please keep reading!

If it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you!

A recent CDC study found that less than 1 in 4 people get enough exercise. This is a very significant stat as physical exercise is hugely important in maintaining both physical and mental well-being.

Without exercise, as we age we experience energy loss, stiffness, aches and general weakness. These can be worsened if other medical issues come in to play, such as osteoporosis or arthritis. Combined, this can lead to loss of independence and a reduced quality of life.

But this does not have to be the case for you! It is never too late to start (or re-start) your healthy lifestyle.

In this book, written for those who want to make positive changes to their quality of life, you will discover:

  • How to rebuild lost muscle, increase range of motion and balance, boost your energy, and relieve & prevent chronic pain
  • The various stages of the aging process, and how to help reverse them
  • Routines that can be done from the comfort of your own home, with no equipment needed
  • Beginner-friendly routines that anyone can do

Thorough and Detailed!

This guide is very thorough and hits all the parts of the body. There are lots of tips and guidance imbedded in the instructions. I like that at the end the author provides some guidance on how to develop your weekly plan...because otherwise it would be too overwhelming. I also appreciate the diagrams but noticed they weren't present on every exercise. My only recommendations are to structure the exercise descriptions such that you know what area it is targeting, what equipment you need, how much time it may take to complete, etc. rather than having to read all the text. I also thought it may be helpful to have a way to increase the effectiveness, for example, add weight. (or if not recommended, say that too) Overall this book is thorough, detailed and complete and I recommend it to anyone!

Excellent!

I opened this book with the trepidation of a life-long martial arts practitioner exploring the concept of his own seniority. There were mainly two questions in my mind: Would I accept the concept of calling myself a senior? Was this book for me?

Leafing through the book before I got into it fully, I saw illustrations of people doing simple movements, both standing and sitting down. How would my muscle memory of fast, violent motions react to slower, gentler forms? It was candidly a psychological shock.

Since the author had given me a free copy in exchange for an honest opinion, I felt honor bound to delve into his efforts and render a judgement.

First, Iann Eckhardt writes well, which for this type of book means the descriptions are easy to understand and follow, and match the illustrations. Second, I saw no indication he was talking down to “little old guys” for the purpose of setting them at ease. Third, carrying out the motions he describes is not a cakewalk. It takes effort to do them correctly.

Eckhardt makes his case starting with a clear explanation of “core strength and the aging process.” He then runs the reader through stretching, standing and sitting core exercises, mat core exercises and a comprehensive set of techniques and workouts aimed at arms, shoulders, back, hips and legs, including belly fat reduction. I was familiar with other, more youthful, forms of these exercises; and they worked for me.

This book may be aimed at an older audience, but the concepts seem equally applicable to any age and any purpose for which maximum motion range is required, including martial arts. Moreover, the author’s approach did not emasculate my psychological and physical persona. Thank you, Iann.

I believe this approach is useful, and praise and appreciate the author’s aim to ease the aging process. Five well deserved stars!
