This is an amazing, well written book. All of the characters are likable and real. It was heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. The children are sweet and lovable. Jake is real and struggling with his grief and how to help his nephews with their grief. A must read!
The Rancher Takes a Family
by Paula Altenburg
Rugged rancher Jake McGregor wrangles cattle better than kids, but when he's suddenly saddled with three grieving children, he's determined to step up. His sister's kids shouldn't pay for her error in judgment in naming him guardian. Problem is, he doesn't have a clue what he's doing. And the woman who attempts to help with his every fumble is the one woman he wants to steer clear of...
Lacey Anderson loves a challenge, but Jake's already broken her heart once. When his tall shadow darkens the doorway of her classroom, she's ready to shut him out - until she meets her new students, and sees the desperation in Jake's eyes. Emotional intelligence is so not his forte. But she's done banging her head against that wall.
Jake, however, is finally ready to learn how to love and Lacey’s the teacher he wants. Is she willing to risk her own heart again to teach him?
Reviews
Great read and I stayed up really late to finish in one sitting! Jake and Lacey have a history from when they were very young. He does not easily admit to emotions and she lives in the moment. Fifteen years later, life has changed for both of them and they've learned that past mistakes can either define them or help them to grow. I look forward to more in this series and from this author!
The book is well written and down to earth, yet impossible to put down! The characters are charming & interesting, but more than that...engaging!
DID NOT RECEVIE CD /OR BOOK/WHAT HAPPEN
I thoroughly enjoyed reading Jake 's and Lacey's story! It's never too late for true love!! Love always finds its way home!!
This was an easy reading book that is great for vacation, social isolation time or middle-of-the-night insomnia. I liked the characters and found them well developed. Great sense of place as well. If you are looking for chick-lit - this fits the bill.
I sneaked into this book because I read #2 in the series first. Totally delightful read and a very nice surprise.
I love western stories about cowboys. The Rancher takes a family was great
