Who says nice guys finish last?Jim and Paula are two of the nicest people I know.  Their warmth and genuine love for people positively radiate from them.  Yet, they have won numerous awards for being the first and best at what they do: running successful businesses. For nearly 40 years, their strategy of putting people ahead of profits has consistently yielded…more profits.  By all accounts, it has also created a more enjoyable working environment for everyone and has resulted in increased influence in every community where their doors are open for business. In recent years, Christian business owners have finally been encouraged to believe that their role in the marketplace is a vital ministry.  Let’s be honest here. Most people spend far more time with co-workers or sitting in restaurants than they’ll ever spend sitting in a pew.The opportunities to be a light are endless.  The question is: do we have to sacrifice profits to share the love of God?  Is this an either/or proposition?  Either we love God, or we grow successful businesses? The Newmans’ answer is emphatic:  we can and must do both.In Building a Business by Building Relationships, the Newmans share practical strategies to help you honor God by treating people right.  (Hint: it has nothing to do with being preachy or handing out tracts.)  Here you’ll find hard-fought wisdom for improving your people skills, from hiring and training employees to wise counsel about working with vendors and professionals.  Plus insights on achieving work-life balance, especially if your family members work together. It’s my honor to commend to you both the authors and their message about how a heart for the marketplace can help you grow profits.

Great Book for Pastors!

As a Pastor of a small church I have business/marketplace people in the church. This book helped me see their world in a ministry capacity and a view how to disciple them in relationship building. Making them strong in Christ and the discipleship business along with this book will launch them into a successful business/marketplace and Kingdom minded! Proclaiming the Gospel through relationship in the workplace!

Genuine advice from genuine people

I worked for Jim and Paula many years ago, and have stayed friends with them ever since (Proof their book works.)

They truly lead by example. Everything they ask from from their employees they also step up and do themselves, and they care for their employees like their own family.

Paula encouraged me to use strengths I had and was secure enough as a boss to let me shine. Their business was stronger because of it.

In the book Jim and Paula discuss a great principal of “treating your employees as well as or better than your customers.” This outlook creates a proven win/win situation for any business. The customers win from being treated from a place of abundance (rather than scarcity) by the employees.

Thanks Jim and Paula for finally putting your wisdom down in a book!

A great tool to help the person who owns any business.

What a great resource for anyone who owns a company. Many franchising companies do not help the franchisee become successful as many people don't know how to operate a business. They may have a passion to be in business for themselves but don't know how to do it. This book gives you many ideas and resources to help you become successful in your business.
