Alaska Spark a must read

I’ve never read a book on firefighting, but thought I’d give it a chance. I wasn’t disappointed. From the first page I was hooked. I’ll be reading the entire series!

Hot, Hot, Hot

What a wonderful story this was! Hot, Hot, Hot! This is my first book by LoLo Paige, but I’m anxious to read more of her books. Love stories set in Alaska. Love firefighter romance. This is a fantastic combination of the two.

Authentic Alaskan romance

What a great debut novel! Lolo Paige takes you right into the fire with this one. If you want to experience Alaska in a way that's authentic, this book does it. I love how I feel like I'm trekking in my backyard as I'm vicariously racing to the next fire. So many books get Alaska wrong. Alaska Spark hits the Pulaski right on target. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.

Sweet Smoke

First and foremost, this is an obviously, well-researched story about Alaskan Firefighters, who clearly, fight some of the most dangerous wildfires in some of the most beautiful, yet dangerous backcountry. Additionally, this is a romance between two firefighters struggling with grief and loss associated with

the job, that often presents impossible dilemmas. Both have looked for love in the wrong people and, as such, both have trust issues. However, it is also easy to see they both are looking for a forever love-a soulmate, if you will.

Although the setting, and the extraordinarily, physically & emotionally demanding job of firefighting is at the forefront of this story, the characters are also very well developed with interesting relationship dynamics and dialogue. I found the main characters to be relatable & likable. As far as the romance, the course of the it was a bit choppy, & slow-moving, and the relationship angst was a bit overdone. As such, when the relationship became intimate, I found the description of the so-called combustible, passion, immature and lacking. It is very difficult to describe mature, contemporary sexuality & attraction in flowery, metaphorical prose. It just didn’t work for orgasms to be described as rainbows. So, there was definite eye-rolling with the descriptions of sexual encounters, and that definitely detracted from the intensity and believability of the romance. Otherwise, this was an interesting read & gave an intriguing look into life as an Alaskan firefighter.

Loved it!

Great storyline and loved the characters! It was filled with jargon for firefighting, but written so that it was easy to follow along. Tara and Ryan met in unfortunate circumstances, but their worlds were never to be the same. I would have easily given this story a 5, but there were about 7 major tense agreement issues that threw off the flow. It needs a good re-edit. I look forward to many more from this author!

Action thriller

This book is so well written you forget that it is friction and beautifully honors the brave men and women who put their lives on the line to save ours. From beginning to end it portrays the story of firefighters putting everything they have on the line to save lives even at their own expense. Tara is a firefighter following in her dads footsteps and wants to be as good as he was. Ryan is a fire jumper in Alaska and has been asked to keep an eye on her when she is sent to Alaska for a few months. Both have personal demons to overcome. Sparks fly between them as hot as the flames they put out with both fighting their attraction. This is so beautifully written, I can't wait to read more books by Lolo. As action packed and intense as it sometimes gets, you will also find plenty of humor. I don't know when I ha e enjoyed a story more and feel honored to be able to read it.

Wonderfully written book you can’t put down!

Lolo Paige’s Alaska Spark is by far the best book I have read in 2020! I loved how she wrote in great detail of the inner workings of the wildfire crews and their heroic actions to preserve lands and lives. The relationships built between crew members, both family and romantic, were heart warming. Alaska Spark is full of suspense, action and romance! I’m looking forward to more books by Lolo Paige!
