This is a really sweet book! I love the close bond between the two friends and their adventures under their special mango tree. The beautiful illustrations really draw you into the story and capture the emotions of the characters. This story displays the beauty of friendship and how friends can still remain close whether they’re near or far from each other. True friendship can last forever.

Beautiful illustrations that gave you the taste of sweet mangos. In life, uncontrollable things happen to kids and adults - but just like the taste of sweet mangos, the memory of friendship lingers. This is a lovely book for girls missing a friend.
Friends Sanaa and Vee have pledged to always be together. Readers see all the fun activities they enjoy as they meet at the mango tree. Sadly, Vee's family moves away and Sanaa copes with a lot of emotions being alone. The story ends with Sanaa seeing a special carving with a reminder that they are still together though in a different way.
Terrific for families who are moving or for a child whose friend has moved. The gentle writing style offers comfort and memories of fun.
Vee and Sanaa are best friends. Their favorite spot to play is under a mango tree. Here they spend many hours swinging, watching the clouds, and playing with their toys. They promise always to be together under this tree. One day, Vee finds out that her family is moving away. Sanaa is disheartened and lonely, until she discovers an important message, the bonds of their friendship will last forever.
This is a sweet story with a message to assuage the feelings of many a child whose best friend has moved away. It is a good way to discuss the topic of separation with young children. While the author has done a good job with the story, I would have like to have seen a brief discussion guide included for parents or teachers to share with their children.
It was a sweet story of close friendship and the changes that come along the way which make us stronger.
Preparing books to read to my class and this will be one on the list most definitely! We are in the Caribbean and I am always looking for Caribbean authors whose books and themes are suitable for the nursery classroom
This is a wonderful story of two friends and how their friendship endures even separation.. The illustrations are amazing! Great read aloud!
The book is nicely done with a story to remember and nicely done illustrations. The only thing I would suggest is that the author show the pronunciation of Sanaa.
