Reviews
Took a bit to get into the story as the plot was difficult to figure out. Once it got moving it was great reading and trying to figure out the end held my attention . Enjoyable
Couldn't put this down. Sympathetic, interesting heroine, unusual setting, fascinating glimpse of Hollywood at it's inception. Nasty villain. Everything you want for a great read . More from this author, please.
A very well written book about a young woman in the early years of the 20th century and covering her life as she became a make up artist in the early days of movie making and established her own make up line, with a mystery thrown in.
This book is absolutely fascinating. For anyone familiar with the twin cities area of Minnesota it will immerse you into feeling as if you there and living all of the exciting adventures along with Libby and her cohorts. Getting a peak into the early days of Hollywood and silent films is also a treat. So much more to share, but you're going to want to read it for yourself - soon!
Really enjoyed this. Almost couldn’t put it down. I look forward to reading more from this author. It has a few typos, but not enough to put me off.
Libby Durant grew up in a very rich household but not everything was wonderful and wealthy. Her family ran to mentally ill people that were violent and suicidal. To save the children they were sent off to school, but the younger child Jenny began to hear voices and got violent at times. When Libby grew up every person that she loved seemed to be ill or somehow died. Read to see how her love of something she learned to do finally turned into a job she really loved, but even that didn't come easy. Read to see how she solved all her problems.
Much better book than the first one I read - Beneath a Blazing Sky - this one had interesting characters and an unexpected twist within Libby's family.
