The setting was well researched and an extension of the previous works. The characters are well rounded and believable. The dialogue fits well into the storyline. Several characters continue on in their character arch. The villains will have an upcoming change of pace. Tormod is one of the better anti heroes along with Raen. This reviewer would like to see more action from Kinley. This work was intended for mature audiences
Tormod: A Scottish Time Travel Romance
by Hazel Hunter
But Jema McShane doesn’t make the trip alone. Her twin brother Gavin falls through time with her. Separated immediately, Gavin must fend for himself. But Jema lands in the powerful arms of the only Viking member of the McDonnel clan, Tormod.
The giant Norseman can scarcely believe how the fates have favored him. His only desire is to protect the strange and beautiful woman, even if it means keeping her existence a secret.
But for Gavin, the fates have a different path in store. His world becomes one of darkness, the likes of which he has never known.
Reviews
It is nice to be challenged when reading a book. The language needs some getting used to. There is a dictionary at the end. There is a pronunciation guide as well. It is wonderful to forget the world around you and be immersed in a fantasy word with rules of its own. Nicely done. Nicely written. Steamy too ;)
Great book series
Heartwarming, finding love with a complete stranger, sad, earning of the heartbreak, loneliness, Grief for 1200 yrs. Finally to find peace.
I can't get enough of this series! The narration is excellent. This author does an amazing job with the character builds and plot. I have read all the books in this series and loved theml. I look forward to reading more books by this author. I was given a free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
Very good book series!! Love them all!
Tormod is the lone Viking of saga till now. Never quite part of the clan but fighting with them. We’re coming to the end of the saga but it’s nice to see the familiar faces round out the story. Diana stands up to the clan and wins him some sympathy. Yet another visit from the future but this time we get twins with cool powers. Jema is rescued by Tormod but her twin Gavin isn’t so lucky. Poor Tormod makes a heart wrenching decision and shows true valour. I can’t help but wonder why nobody looked for his body. Hopefully he gets his HEA in the final book. I read this using my KU subscription.
Tormod is book 4 in Hazel Hunter's time traveling highlander series and should really be read in order. The books are essentially one big story with different main characters that build upon the story of the last set. And the others are good books too, so why wouldn't you read them? :)
Tormod is the epitome of the odd man out: a viking among Britannia warriors. He lives up to that many times over and you can't help but to ache for and share his sense of loneliness. Jema felt like a reward for him, and I really enjoyed her. The relationship between her and her twin brother was one of the best in the series so far as I'm concerned and I look forward to seeing Gavin get his happily ever after next.
The pair had a battle, as they all do, but this one was even more 'mystic' than the last and that made it even more fun. No spoilers, just saying it'll be trip.
If you like time travel, druid magic, immortal highlanders, steamy romance, and interfering gods, this is a book for you!
