I just wish they would have not been as well developed. Don't give me details and character background, give me more sex. Cause dude, my bell got rung. She knows. She knows how good it is to be with someone who has done it all. Yes he was well endowed but, he had her and me twisted. The only thing that would have made it hotter would have been if he dirty talked. Cause the sex was from his perspective and if he'd have said the stuff he thought, but better, out loud.
Sweet Liar
by Laurelin Paige
“Sweet Liar captivated me from start to finish! Dylan Locke is a must have in your book boyfriend collection!” Jana Aston, NYT Bestselling Author
British ad exec Dylan Locke isn't looking for love. He isn't looking for fate. He's definitely not looking for Audrey Lind. She's pretty, far too young, and overly romantic--in short, exhausting.
But when the girl, young enough to be his daughter, literally lands in his lap and asks for his expertise, he'd be lying if he said he wasn't interested. In her body, in her innocence, in her philosophy.
In the kind of kismet that starts with kisses.
But Audrey isn't looking for love either--she's looking for lessons, and she's certain Dylan knows everything she needs to learn.
If he agrees to play the teacher can he keep his heart?
Of course he can.
Then again, he might be lying.
Reviews
I really love this jaded older man and effervescent younger woman romance. It makes you wonder which one is the SWEET LIAR as the story goes on.
There are all kinds of twists like the ex-wife, the son, and the fact that Dylan lives in London, but we are left with a twinge of hope in the cliffhanger.
Drowning in internal dialogue for pages and pages before any dialogue between characters. I didn’t care to learn the outcome.
I loved the style of writing in this romance.fast paced and descriptive with heart warming characters. An enjoyable read which I recommend.
What a breath of fresh air. It’s so easy to fall in love with love in this sweet and surprisingly charming romance about a starry-eyed ingénue who believes in kismet (serendipity, destiny), and possesses the finesse to bring down a jaded man almost twice her age. It’s handled so convincingly with charm, humor, steam, and heart. Enraptured from the first page, I was itching to learn what happens when a true believer meets an older guy with cold feet and a tarnished heart. They have all the ingredients for a perfect romance.
Not only does this first book of the DIRTY SWEET DUET show a different side of the author, but it was even better than the DIRTY GAMES DUET and THE DIRTY DUET which preceded it. Those books involved two of hero DYLAN LOCKE’s business partners, but were more conventional stories in the author’s repertoire. What mesmerized me about this romance was that it tackled a rather sweet, but hot, and exciting love story between an older man/younger woman that played against type and stuck to vanilla romance. Where playboy Weston King was brought to his knees by a savvy businesswoman who mostly called the shots in a fake relationship turned real, and alpha boss Donovan Kincaid dominated a smart underling with a submissive streak in the previous duets, there was nothing fancy about the story, setup, or characters in this book. It was genuine, heartfelt, and real.
Hot British exec Dylan (42)was burned in the past and learned his lesson, making him rather jaded when it comes to romance, and hasn’t even had sex in awhile. He’s focused on business and doesn’t believe in love or “kismet” as adorably charming AUDREY (23) calls it, which she deduces that they have in spades. Despite his instant attraction to her, he’s not taking the love bait she casts… even though she turns out to be very adept and persuasive at proving her kismet points and love theories, while simultaneously maneuvering more time with him. I loved her irrepressible optimism and love of love, and no matter how Dylan reacted or tried to push her and his feelings away, she never lost faith in the fated principles of love.
On the other hand, he was the consummate gentleman and a really hot, vanilla lover for a nice change of pace. Their arrangement for him to school her in sex is more than just a gimmick. Win-win for her as she gets lessons while spending more time with Dylan in hopes of making him realize their kismet connection is real. It won’t be easy though ‘cuz he’s pretty resistant. That may seem clichéd or familiar on face, but what makes this story different are the fetching personalities of the MCs and their heartfelt journey. Just couldn’t get enough of them.
It’s short, well-paced, and captivating. The romancing was off the charts. The sex was steamy and swoon-worthy as chemistry, kismet and doubts meet their match in the cutest couple ever. This book completely beguiled and bewitched me, and after that cliffy, part two, SWEET FATE, is a must-read.
This was a good, quick read. A spin off of a favorite series of mine, and I Love that! My only complaint is that I wish it was longer!
I’m a total sucker for an age gap romance, and this falls into that category. This has a lovely added complication of Dylan being Audrey’s sister’s boss, or rather one of the partners are the firm where she works. There is this great kind of sneaking around, but it’s very mild, more like they keep it on the down low, but not necessarily a secret.
These two are kind of a very odd couple not just because of the age difference. Dylan is a very jaded man after a rough breakup with his ex-wife who cheated, he no longer believes in love. But he is trying to be more involved in his teenage sons life, but his ex is of course making that difficult. And then we have Audrey who is all about kismet and believing in love and romance, so literally Dylan’s polars opposite. She has a lot of things that could have made her jaded, but she isn’t at all. She comes off as overly sweet, and even a little naive, but that’s countered by the fact that she is assertive when it comes to Dylan. She wanted him, so she went for it. She wasn’t overly pushy, but she was forward, and it was nice to see.
The dynamic between them is basically she wants sexy time tutoring and they both are on a no strings attached arrangements. Some of the scenes between these two are really hot, I even liked when the realtor walked in on them. And of course we kind of end abruptly, the two going back to their own lives in different cities, and who knows when they are going to see each other again. The book itself was really kind of a short read, and it’s more spicy than plot, but it worked for this book.
Oh, man, I love this novella. Aubrey is Sabrina’s little sister is in her twenties and Dumbstruck Dylan is Sabrina’s British boss is is 19 years older than her. AGE GAP!!!! Yet, dont' doubt Aubrey for seducing the man. The audio book narrators are Shane East and Carly Robins!!!! They are so great together and bring the characters to life, for sure! Such a very entertaning book and love the chase with him! I don't want to say much but you like a little business man and sassy girl, this story will tickle your fancy for sure!
