I do not need to read a book that talks about measuring a guy's Johnson. If you are into that, this book is for you. I like books that rely on vocabulary and plot. How this author won awards is beyond me. Maybe I just don't understand today's youth. Maybe I don't want to. I couldn't even finish the book. Good luck

Reviews
I was very disappointed with this book, and wish that I had read the reviews more thoroughly before purchasing. The longer I read this, the more uncomfortable I was. What I was reading was a cycle of verbal abuse - humiliation, mocking, discreditation of the main character by the "love interest". The love interest character then escalated, (spoiler alert) ending in a volatile confrontation where he shot her. I ended up putting the book down and not finishing it. This story glorified a cycle of abuse, wanting us to be on board with it and wanting us to root for a "happy ending."
Absolutely lovely, couldn't stop reading it. Love the bond they have as afamily . Their little magical quirks are amusing.
I kept getting “pop ups” on my Facebook newsfeed that this author was very good and had 11 books about the Thorne Witches, so I spent the money and ordered the first book only. I was very surprised and disheartened at how poorly the book developed, how jumbled the storyline, at the soft porn descriptions used in the book that were disgusting and not needed, the way the family progressed and magically multiplied (how many illegitimate kids can a man/woman have?) and the reasons given behind some of the “magical” gifts, i.e. why did rodents show up when Summer sneezed or was it because she cursed – that was never made clear and the explanation did not show up until well over half the book was read and still was not made clear. Lots of nitpicking arguments that were very childish, lots of verbal abuse by male characters, foul language ruined the reading experience, etc. Forced myself to finish the book. Truly not worth spending anymore money on the childish sequels. Giving this book 2 stars was just being polite.
A squirrel mafia boss? An elephant who loves the neighbors pool? A chimp with PTSD? A vet who cares for them all, can converse with them, and has magical powers is just the tip of the iceberg. Add romance, family factions, manipulating relatives and constant action and the adventure begins.
Interesting Story
I love stories with magic and witches, so I had high hopes for this book. However, as we got further in, it bordered on the ridiculous. Siblings started coming out of the woodwork, people that had barely been introduced to the story suddenly had great importance. It felt like the author was rushing to fit everything into the first book, which makes me wonder what's left for the next ten. Coop was so wishy washy, I got whiplash trying to keep up with him.
Anything that had to do with sex felt like it was written by a teenage boy. I mean, honestly, tatas?
I would say that it was geared toward teenagers, but my mother would have had a fit if I'd read this book as a teen.
I picked up this book because the library had the series up to book 9. It instantly drew me in and got me out of my reading slump. The combination of a more mature character (28?) with a generous back story, a love of animals and the ensuing hilarity was just what I needed. I can't wait to see where the series goes!
