As a musician this resonated with me. Fun story about how integral your talent is to life. Will be fun to read the next one.
If only he believed any of that.Cajun fiddler Lauren has just two days to practice for a shot at her dream gig. But when her sister’s best friend, Tyler, arrives with comfort food and his shy, sexy smile, she opens the door to distraction.Ex-soldier Tyler has been denying his crush on Lauren for years. Now that he’s alone with her, he can no longer pretend those feelings don't exist.Newly acknowledged sparks come with a heaping side of history.* * * * *Second Fiddle Flirt is the first book of the Cajun Two-Step contemporary romance series. These standalone novellas follow the female musicians of the fictional Cajun band, Les Cinq Couillons. Each book features a heartwarming love story of hope & healing packed with found family friendship and spicy Cajun heat!
This is a short story about two characters who’ve had a thing for each other for a long time, coming together while grieving for a sister/best friend. I found the storyline enjoyable but not very deep. I would have liked to read more about the potential band (as I thought that was unique), and thought that Tyler was a little too perfect (he needed a fault or two). Lauren resolved all her problems rather quickly and predictably, but it was well edited which I appreciate.
Another great summer reading!
This is the 1st book I've read written by Leigh Landry; she has done a great job at writing a good book; I can’t wait to read more of her books.
The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.
I loved the chemistry between the characters.

Well told short tale. Often novellas stop at some point to drag you into buying the next book, but this one tells a complete story. Writing is good.
Lovely, cozy read. Perfect for a relaxing afternoon/night. A wonderful way to start this series!
This is a great novella that packs a lot of emotion in only a few hours reading. Tyler and Lauren are dealing with grief after her sister is killed in action and story takes place over the weekend as Lauren is packing Brandy’s things. Around the sadness of loss Tyler and Lauren use humor as a coping mechanism and Lauren finds strength to fight for herself and what she wants - including a relationship with Tyler.
Content warnings: on page sex, MC with history of (recent) manipulative ex and coping with aftermath, MC whose parents had manipulative history, central arc of grief, some misogynistic comments from side character.
