Thirty-eight-year-old set designer Amelia Parker is on a mission to get pregnant—soon. That’s why she’s researching sperm banks and procedures. It’s also why her best friend hires a matchmaker for her. She insists Amelia deserves—needs—a romance reset before she embarks on single parenthood.

Widower Lincoln Hayes is about to be an empty nester with his twins going off to college. He’s ready to have some fun, but he doesn’t want to do it alone. Dating, though.... Staying offline and hiring a matchmaker who vets his dates makes sense.

Imagine Lincoln’s surprise when his first date in twenty years is actually his first love, the one who broke his heart and got away. Amelia is shocked to see Lincoln, and the chemistry between them is as strong as ever. Amelia can easily imagine having Lincoln’s baby— but is her biological clock and desire for a child more than Lincoln can handle?

Interesting Plot

A great second chance romance that covers a big time span. Fun with lots of twists. Good author that keeps you reading.

A short, sweet, predictable and downright silly novella that should be free. Two irritated stars.

I hate getting tricked into buying a "book" that is really a 129-page novella, followed by an "excerpt" and titles of other books in the series, followed by lists of titles in other series the author has written, followed by yet another excerpt from one of those books! Frankly, I resent paying for advertisements of the author's numerous books in the last twenty-five pages of this one, and I never would have purchased it had I known. In my opinion, a novella that is little more than a "hook" to the author's other books should be free.

No plot summary from me this time, since there really isn't much of a plot. It's short, sweet, predictable, and downright silly in spots. Although the main characters (Amelia and Lincoln) are in their late thirties, they talk and act like teenagers in the throes of first love. (The story's actual teenagers have more sense!) The supporting characters are just as annoying; Izzy is so irritating that I skimmed through her scenes. Unfortunately, several of these characters reappear in other books in this series. No thanks--not going there.

If you enjoy sweet, second chance romances with no sex or swearing, you might like this one. I didn't. Two stars overall.

Second chances

I really loved this story. The characters were all very real life like and believable. They were the same kind of people that you see everyday on the streets around you, with the same kind of experiences we all go through. I love the small town setting, all of the characters that were involved in this story, and the plot of the story.

BEST WAY TO SPEND A SUNDAY AFTERNOON

If you haven't tried any of Kay Lyons books yet, do yourself a favor and BUY ONE. Seriously, I read an average of 200 books a year and am very choosy about the authors and books I read. Kay Lyons (and her alter ego, Ivy James) is absolutely incredible and a top favorite for me. She makes small towns come alive, and takes you right into the heart of the characters lives so it feels like you're the one living the story. She has a way of writing romance books that is brilliant, layered, and super spicy without being slutty. I spent my Sunday afternoon reading Romance Reset, and by the time I was half way through, there was just no putting that book down until it was finished! I promptly went and reread several of her other books I had, I just couldn't get enough of her gift storytelling. Can't wait for the next one in this charming series!!
*I received an ARC book in return for my honest review.

ROMANCE RESET -Kay Lyons
Thirty-eight-year-old set designer Amelia Parker is on a mission to get pregnant before her biological clock runs out. She’s made an appointment with a sperm bank to move forward with her plan. Her best friend convinces her that a sperm bank is not the way to go and sets her up with a matchmaker. Amelia is set up with her first love Lincoln Hayes, a widower with two grown children. They seem like a perfect match but will Lincoln want to go along with Amelia’s plan for a baby when he is so looking forward to the “empty nest” and the plans to travel he made with his late wife?
I received this ARC book from the author with the request that I leave an honest review.

A sweet second chance romance

“Romance Reset” begins the Make Me a Match series by Kay Lyons.

Amelia Parker wants a baby and has a plan to make that happen without having to be in a relationship. But her friend, Izzy, not happy that Amelia has given up on love, convinces Amelia to use a matchmaker.
Widower Lincoln Hayes, a soon-to-be empty nester, decides it’s time for him to find love again and hires the same matchmaker. He is surprised his first match is with Amelia, the one who broke his heart years ago.

“Romance Reset” shows two people, who were once deeply in love, face their past hurts to find a happy future.
Ms. Lyons writes a sweet second chance romance that I think you will enjoy.
