Fantastic story! Greatly enjoyed the read and almost fell over, when I read that this is the author's first novel! Way to knock it out of the park! I can't wait to dive straight in to the next book in the series! I love the characters and the highs and lows that you feel like your sharing with them. My favorite element of all is the joy and laughter! I couldn't help but fall in love with all 4 members of Fractured, just from the first book! Gotta go and get started on Tex's book now! Y'all jump on this series, you won't regret it!
Fractured Hearts: A Fractured Rock Star Romance
by L. M. Dalgleish
Lexie Daniels lost the love of her life three years ago when her husband was killed in a tragic accident. Throwing herself into her work as a photographer helped her cope with the pain. But moving on? Well, she’s not quite ready for that yet.
After she’s hired as Fractured's tour photographer by hot-as-hell lead singer Connor Byrne, long-dormant feelings are awakened. He’s a world-famous rock star with no interest in love, but his offer of one night together might be exactly what she needs to bring her body back to life. And just one night won’t risk her still-broken heart… right?
Connor Byrne doesn’t do relationships, let alone love. After all, he learned early on in life that love only leads to pain and betrayal. Who needs it anyway? As lead singer of one of the world’s hottest rock bands he’s got everything he wants: music, the adoration of millions, and willing women flinging themselves at his feet.
Getting to know beautiful but broken photographer Lexie might just change everything though. And one night together? Well, that might not be enough. But with the end of the tour fast approaching and his heart still not healed from the past, will Connor question what it is he really wants, or will he let Lexie walk away for good?
Fractured Hearts is the first book in the Fractured Rock Star Romance series, and can be read as a standalone. It's a steamy, slow-burn love story with no cheating, no cliffhangers, and a guaranteed HEA.
Reviews
Connor and Levi's journey is full of bumps and misunderstanding. A grieving widow and a rockstar who has fought for love his whole life but rejected by his mothers death at a young age and a father who sent him away to live with an aunt only to remarry and start another family while still rejecting his first son. Together they mended two broken hearts and became one. A must read series and book.
I cannot believe this is a debut novel. Well fleshed put characters, both the leads and the other members of the band.
Tortured rockstar. Tortured grieving widow. Amazing chemistry.
My first novel by L.M and it won't be my last. Going to buy Tax as soon as I leave this review. This book was amazing, it was not what I expected and I couldn't have been happier! Thank you for a great read!
Behind the scenes type of story. Here you get to see the life and likes of rock stars after they’ve outgrown most of their wild ways. You also see the connection of the guys and the love that grows between the couple.
L. M. Dalgleish, is this really your debut novel? Holy cow, I’m impressed!
In this story, we have two wounded souls, each one afraid to open up for different reasons. Connor has been abandoned by his father at 16 after his mother dies from cancer. Shipped to America from Ireland, with only an aunt to raise him. (Our boy has some abandonment issues) Lexie married her high school sweetheart. After only two years, her husband was killed. (Our girl has closed heart) She’s thrown her broken spirit into her photography business until she is finally making a living as a photographer. Connor is looking for a photographer for his band and finds something magical in Lexie’s work.
This story isn’t an angsty, drama fest, it’s a character driven, healing romance. There is flirting, banter, and some smokin hot chemistry between Lexie and Connor.
Lexie was a wonderful character. I felt her sorrow, but also could see how she had slowly began to recover from the loss of her husband. She was wary of Connor, as she should have been, knowing she needs to protect her heart. Connor is feeling tired of the same ole thing. What used to bring him joy, is now slowly sucking the life out of him.
"The reasons he had wanted to be in a band since he was a teenager were still real to him. Being surrounded by music, his friends, the adoration of fans, had been all he ever wanted; the thought of it had always been like balm for his soul. That it felt like it wasn’t enough for him anymore was difficult for him to handle.”
I love how the healing process that Lexie goes through with her photography is very similar to the healing Connor has with his music. Artists, no matter their medium, find such beautiful ways to share their pain with the world.
Can I just say that impromptu, intimate photo session was HOT.
I really loved the end of this book but craved a deeper connection of healing between the two mc’s. I enjoy that deep dive into a character’s soul and wished we a few more moments of them working through their pain together. Mostly Connor, because he was so dang closed off, he needed a verbal *ss-kicking from his bandmate to see the truth.
Fractured will definitely grab your heart, that is for sure! This was a wonderful debut rockstar romance!
Connor & Lexie's connection seems incongruent. She's sweet & somewhat soft-spoken, altho finding out the grief she lives with, we also get a sense of her strength. Yet, the deeper you think about these characters, you see they both have artistic souls, and those souls call out to each other.
One thing with them did miss the mark for me, however, and that was the fact we are TOLD many times about their time together as friends, or getting to know each other outside of the bedroom, but we aren't SHOWN that part of their relationship a lot. We see her interactions & conversations getting to know the rest of the band, but most of Lexie's interactions w/ Connor are centered around the physical relationship. I missed seeing many of their deeper interactions, because the ones we were shown were beautiful.
Speaking of the other members of the band - I felt like I got to know Tex, Noah & Zac - and Drew, a little bit. They each have amazing hearts, and I'm looking forward to their stories!
Back to Lexie & Connor - as a debut, I give this two thumbs up. Great world creation & building, along with creating characters I care about.
: )
I gave 2 stars just to not be a jerk but I gave up at about 14%. I couldn't keep my eyes open. Pretty sad. Thought I'd found a new series.
Man, this book! From the start until the end i was lost in Lexie's and Connor's story. The author had amazing attention to detail and articulated each scene with finesse, tugging on those emotional cords in my chest.
The story was engaging and I found I.could relate to the characters. I loved watching them grow and stumble through the obstacles throughout the book.
I can't wait to see what else this author has in store!
