A sexy stand-alone romance from USA Today bestseller Sarina Bowen.
A year ago Hank "Hazardous" Lazarus had everything: a gorgeous girlfriend, a career as a freestyle snowboarder and a spot on the US Olympic team. Then a bad crash in the half pipe left him unable to move his legs. He lost his sport, his career, and the girlfriend, too.
He's is in a bad way until he meets Dr. Callie Anders. Her quick smile makes him want to live again. If only she weren't so cagey. He doesn't know whether to punch the ex-boyfriend who hurt her, or thank the man for making her single.
Callie has never met a man who makes her heart flutter like Hank does. Every time she comes face to face with the bad boy snowboarder, it's hard to remember that he's off limits.
Dating him would be unprofessional. Besides, he's out of her league. But the struggle is real. And every small town knows that bad boys never play by the rules...
I love Sarina Bowen's deliciously sexy heroes! New York Times bestselling author Jill Shalvis

Solid Love Story

An ultimately very satisfying love story between Hank, a disabled snowboarder, and Callie, a hospitalist doctor. No meet cute, a big plus, but an interesting and believable bringingbtogetherof the MCs. Another plus is the absence of the trite "what's wrong with me?" trope so common in less-skillfully written romances. Sex scenes are detailed but not overly-clinical or needlessly graphic.

Only reason for four stars instead of five was the author's avoidance of any detail regarding the mechanics of Hank's partial paralysis. He can "get it up" and has feeling but no muscle control in his legs. I would have like to have seen this integrated into the physical relationship between the MCs.

The writng is literate without being fussy and shows admirable mastery of the forms of formal written English, while also being smooth and engaging. I dislike sports, but the writing actually brought me sympathetically into the world of snowboarding.

If you like characters you care about, have a least a tolerance for a sports background to the romance story, and appreciate good writing, you'll enjoy this book.

And maybe even want to try snowboarding....

Overcoming

Love Hank and Callie’s story. There’s something so compelling about watching someone overcome a devastating accident and still find their happy ending. Also, I loved Callie from Willow and Dane’s story, so seeing her get her HEA was wonderful.

I love everything by Sarina, and this series is no exception!

Highly recommend!

Good Book

I’ve loved Sarina Bowen’s new adult novels so I was eager to try a contemporary romance by her. I enjoyed the characters and story, but it didn’t have the magic of the other books I’ve read.

Hank and Callie were both likeable characters. And it was nice to read about Hank’s recovery-his struggle with his loose of mobility and former self. Although, I wish it had been explored even more. Callie had a little too much of that typical “I’ll never be good enough for him” thing that I don’t like.

The romance was good. I bought their attraction and love. There was the constant issue of doctor-patient relationship, but it was handled well. I do wish there was a little bit more, but that’s a common complaint I have with a romance.

So stinking good!

This was such a good follow up to Dane and Willows story! I loved reading Hank and Callie’s and I can’t wait to read Bear and Stella’s story next!

Great story

This was very well done. The characters were fantastic and well written. We really get to know them. Thank is having a hard time as he is trying to adapt to his new life. Thank has had a major injury that is affecting his life. I loved how this story was done. It flows really well and pulled me in from beginning to end.

Fun easy read

I loved loved loved the fact that *spoiler alert* the male romantic lead of this book is in a wheelchair. And literally no one makes a big deal of it. Positive handicapable representation for the win. The first two books in this series have been quick and fun reads.

I love tortured heroes

4.25
I bought FALLING FROM THE SKY, book #2 in Sarina Bowen’s “Gravity” series, after reading book #1 (COMING IN FROM THE COLD), and dove right in. In many ways this book was even better than the first. I love tortured heroes, and Hank was far more tortured than his friend, Dane, from book #1 (who admittedly was rather tortured, too). I wasn’t quite as attached to the heroine, Callie, however, because there were times I wanted to shake her. And yet, she was so real, so believable, I couldn’t help but root for her to find her happy ending with Hank.

I was torn about the rating for this story. Hank? Easily a 4.5. Callie? Not so much. But together? A very solid 4.25. (Another happy sigh)
