So, I'm Drunk.

Daniel T. Drunk, Jr. if you really wanna know. And I'm on a plane headed to Paradise Isle on the trip of a lifetime. The occasion? My honeymoon. Except, there's only one problem.

I'm riding solo.

It's a really long story, and if you don't mind, I'd prefer to leave it at that.

Really? You must know? Fine, I get it. You're the nosey type. Here's the abbreviated version. I came within an inch of marrying a cheating slut. There. Get the picture? Good.

But that's not what this story is about. This story is about what happened after I got to Paradise and a dead body showed up in my motel room.

And, of course, the cops tried to blame it on me.

And then the actual murderer decided they wanted me dead too.

Fuck.

The hits just kept on coming.

And to top it all off. This woman started following me around the island, and she couldn't seem to keep her hands off me. But not in a good way.

So if you're interested in a bit of Caribbean flavored action and adventure, with a hint of sexual tension, a dash of unapologetic profanity, and a kick-ass ending, then this is your book.

If you're looking for the next best piece of literature since - oh, hell, who am I kidding? I don't know shit about good literature. But if that's what you're looking for, then keep moving, cause this ain't that.

If, however, you're like me and just looking for a good time, then I'm your fella. I promise you, you won't be disappointed.

Rated R for language, crude humor, sexual innuendos, and the occasional non-PC remark. Rated A+ for entertainment value.

Fun, light reading.

I'll admit that this isnt their deepest read you'll ever have but it's a lot of fun if you stick with it. Danny starts off as one of those friends you had back in school who didn't take himself or life too seriously. It was great seeing him grow from the stereotypical caricature and get fleshed out along the way. Especially in his relationship with Al, his geriatric hard-of-hearing partner. If you're looking for something to read that's whimsy and light while on the beach, or in my case a standby, this book will not do you wrong.

Hilarious

I was literally laughing loudly as I read the first couple of chapters. I could live without all the f-bombs...but the characters were funny. The dialogue was entertaining and I was surprised by the ending. And I’m signing off to go order the 2nd Drunk book.

Coctails, Boobies and a not so Hard Boiled Dick

Awful narration

I couldn't get past the narrator. He impersonated every character's voice, male and female. I couldn't get past that deep, male voice trying to sound soft and feminine. All I could picture is a drag queen. NOT THAT THERE'S ANYTHING WRONG WITH THAT! It's just that it threw off my mental images of the characters. Why not just narrate in third person in a natural voice??? I can't even finish listening to this book!

Fun Romp

The book was very entertaining, albeit farfetched. I don't really mind it being outlandish in some respects, and maybe this shows my age, but Drunk didn't really need to be a man whore. I would read another for sure. The characters were nicely fleshed out.

Fun read

If you like comedic mysteries, as I do, then you need to give this one a shot. Likable character solving a mystery in a gorgeous setting with a motley crew of old timers along for the fun. Danny Drunk is kind of a male version of Stephanie Plum.

Gets better

When I first started reading I was putoff by the main character - I didn't like him at all and I put the book aside. A few weeks later I picked it up again and I enjoyed the rest of the book.
I've gone on to read 3 more books in the series. Paradise Island has drugs, sex trafficing, drug cartels, shady characters, escorts, corrupt police and some good guys.
