I was excited to read about Jase since meeting him in book one.
Unfortunately, Jase's over the top grandma completely ruined the story. From the destruction of Heather's livelihood to forcing herself into a job with Heather's shop, it made me realize that Heather should run for the hills. I didn't want a HEA because I knew she'd be saddled with this woman.
Jase doing nothing about it was a complete turn off as well.
Blow Me Away: A laugh out loud, friends to lovers rom com!
by Christina Hovland
It's all fun and games until somebody falls in love...
Jase Dvornakov has always loved women, 80's hair band music, and things that go boom. He used to disarm bombs in the Navy, but he's back in Denver after a mission overseas went sideways and destroyed his future, including his marriage. Now he arranges flowers in his family's floral business because flowers don't explode.
Cookie-baker extraordinaire, Heather Reese, has had one too many rounds of heartache, so she's sworn off men and prefers to spend her evenings binge-watching game shows. Plus her no-men rule gives her time to focus on her dream come true--Heather's Cookie Co.--her very own bake shop with an underground following for naughty shaped treats. She refuses to be interested in the hot-shot florist across the street. He is trouble with a capital T. Sexy trouble, but still, a hook-up with Jase is a hard nope.
Desperate to avoid his family's incessant matchmaking, a fake breakup with the beautiful Heather is just what the florist ordered. If his family believes Heather decimated his heart, they'll leave him alone. Heather isn't so keen on the idea, but Jase is determined to make it worth her while. When a pretend breakup becomes the real romance neither was expecting, together they'll have to decide if it's finally time to light the fuse on love...

So our heroine owns a cookie shop. Most are the regular cookies we all know and love, but then there are the special cookies for events. Like Bridal Showers, Girl's nights, Bachelorette Parties, (are you sensing a theme?) These parties call for the more interesting cookies that involve interesting cookie cutters. Anyway, she also volunteers at a nursing home and wants to throw a 'prom' for them to enjoy. While gathering donations she comes across the hot hero jamming to some tunes while arranging flowers.
Both parties have sworn off love, (so you know their match is going to be epic). She gives him the complete rundown on what a relationship between them would be like, all the way to the inevitable break up. C'est la vie. (I'm learning French. That means 'thus is life.')
The next day the family begins their harassment of our hero about marriage, kids, etc. again so he drops the break up bomb. Now his whole family (large, revengeful) hates the innocent cookie maker. His grandmother pulls some mean pranks on her and our hero must step in to stop the pranks while not giving away his lie to his family. Can he walk this tight rope? or will he fall on his face in a vat of cookie dough?
Fun story that makes him look pretty bad a lot of the time. But never fear. This is not IRL it's an HEA
I loved the chemistry between Jase and Heather and of course the shenanigans from Babushka! Such a fun, crazy and hot read!
But the author made me laugh out loud, and I always give extra points for that.
I really enjoyed it. The humor, (grandma was a kick), and how the whole thing came together. There was conflict, but thankfully it wasn’t drawn out. I was left smiling at the end, so maybe it was a five star.
I love Jase and Heather, they were sexy and funny and just a really great couple working through their struggles. The crowning glory of this book though was Babushka, her character was pure gold and constantly had me in stitches.
Loved the book . Sexy and funny. Loved Babushka she was great and caused so much drama for a grandmother I might have to take a lesson from her.
