A Tale of Two Fathers

Many of us had fathers who failed us, sometimes in minor ways, sometimes in profound ways. Some were absent, some were abusive and hostile, some were around but merely disinterested. The failings of our fathers can have a severe effect on the way we relate to God, our Heavenly Father.

My earthly father was abusive, manipulative, narcissistic, angry, mentally ill, and sometimes violent. Because of the way he treated me, I've had trials with fear, depression, post-traumatic stress, and even demonic oppression.

But God is good. As my Heavenly Father, God protected me and took extraordinary steps to reveal Himself to me, teaching me that He is nothing like my earthly father. Through Jesus Christ I have been healed and sustained. God has called me to share my story with the world, to glorify the One who saved and redeemed me, and to reach those of you with traumatic backgrounds who struggle to understand your identity and the love God has for you. Jesus came to bring us abundant life, and I am living, breathing proof of His love and healing power.
