An ordinary lighthouse on the outside.
A portal to all of space and time on the inside.

Explore the universe with a series that both kids and parents love! The Balky Point Adventures are smart books that engage the imagination and take adventurers of all ages to undiscovered worlds ... and beyond.

"Aliens, infinite universes, ghosts AND time travel ... a winning literary combination if ever there was one." — Just One More Chapter reviews

There's something not quite right inside the lighthouse ... something it would be easy for most people to miss. But Emma Nelson is not most people. Together with her twin brother Charlie, she tackles the challenge of unraveling this mystery. Little do they realize that unlocking the lighthouse's secrets will take them on the adventure of a lifetime, to distant planets, throughout time and the multiverse, and to a place where everything is possible.

Together with Charlie, an identical Charlie from a parallel Earth, mysterious Eve, enchanting Ben, and unconventional but endearing scientist Dr. Waldo, can Emma chase down Vik, a man under the influence of an entity called The Void, before he destroys all the universes?

Inspired by the timeless wonder and fantasy of A Wrinkle in Time, with just a dash of Doctor Who, Pam Stucky has created smart and unforgettable stories of adventure, curiosity, and the humanity of all beings—even aliens. Fans of Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, The Wingfeather Saga, Addison Cooke, The Penderwicks, and anyone who loves being immersed in infinite universes where everything is possible, will love the Balky Point Adventures.

Exciting and imaginative, courageous and thought-provoking, this series commends the strength of compassion, and the inherent power within each person to change the world ... or the universe.

"Reminded me of Christopher Pike’s wonderful series Spooksville (one of my all time favourites growing up) .... The plot was full of twists and turns ... it was suspenseful and exciting, a perfect children’s adventure story and a compelling read. I would recommend this to anyone with teenagers that enjoy adventure stories of any kind, and I can't wait for the second in the series." — Alison, Chapter One Reviews

"I never grew tired of seeing what [the author] might come up with next.... What would it be like to visit other planets? As someone who has often wondered about this, I was intrigued by all of the places that these characters see. Earth is unique in many different ways. It was nice to see this subtly acknowledged before the author went on to show the amazing range of possibilities. I would have liked to visit (almost) all of them." — Astilbe, Long and Short Reviews"

"I recommend this book to fans of Doctor Who, and anyone who loves to read Sci-Fi novels." — Rachel, Rachel’s Really Random Reviews

enjoyable science fantasy

Take an island lighthouse, connect it to universes full of other place some where magic happens, some where science does.

Two-dimensional elephants, psychics, a garden where secrets grow, ghosts, multiple selves... and a growing villainous being called the Void.

Like a Wrinkle in Time this book blends science and fantasy together into a fun whole.

I found a new home

I’ve never been a sci-fi guy. This introduced me to a new world, and I like it. Thanks for the new world and the travels it will allow.

Fun and fast paced, intelligently written

I like how this book draws young readers (and older ones!) in and gives them an intelligently and interestingly written adventure. I write for middle school readers too, and have some in my household, so I have a lot of respect for the rare book or series that is as well crafted as adult page-turners or good literature, but also hits the sweet spot of appropriate excitement for younger readers. This is how we are growing up a new generation of savvy and serious readers! :-)
