This is fun story to read and the audio was great too. The characters were interesting and the story line was good. Ames and Palmer are just fun to read about especially when Ames kept introducing Palmer to her different girlfriends to see if he would pick one to marry so he could get an inheritance. Lots of fun humor and sweet moments. The audio was wonderful to listen to and the narrator did great with this story.

★★★★★ "I loved this book. Best friends becoming something more and having to decide how much love is worth. I enjoyed the banter and antics between the two and the musings in their heads. The small town seems wonderful and the other characters mentioned seem great - I can’t wait to read about them in future books!" - Michaela
★★★★★ "If you're signed up for Jessie Gussman's newsletters, you already know there's going to be a lot of humor in her books. This one is no exception. Palmer and Ames have been childhood playmates and best friends forever. Now, for the first time in years, Ames, Miss I-excell-at-everything, is home for a full summer. Then best friend Palmer discloses he needs a wife to receive a one-billion dollar inheritance. How can Palmer tell Ames he wants that “wife” to be her. Fun and games ensue on the way to the altar. Jessie Gussman has written a story that pulls at your emotions as you root for a happily ever after with these two. The narrator, Jay Dyess, delivers exceptionally good voices for every character. His smooth and easy delivery makes this an excellent listen and worthy of purchase with that precious audible credit!
Palmer is absolutely the best!!! Ames becomes much better toward the end. It was entertaining to see how they learned and grew. The Cowboy’s Best Friend is a n enjoyable book with plenty of problems to solve. Read this if you like friends to more books.
I only lived in North Dakota for two years, but a part of me has missed it ever since. Reading this book reminds me of exactly why.
The story is well written but the heroine is not very likable. She is selfish and hurts others, especially Palmer, in order to get her way. Of course, in the end, she finally sees the light, but I would not have ever wanted her as a friend. Frankly, Palmer is too good for her.
A story of tradition, family, love and determination. This charming story of high school best friends USA breath of fresh air.
