I had this rated as a 4.5 star review until the end. Amazing how quickly can ruin itself. Keeley was always off but she's nothing short of manipulative. And the part with Britta at the end was bad.
Shayla Black is one of my favorite authors but she missed the mark w/this first book in her new series. There is plenty of chemistry between the H & h & the characters are well developed BUT the entire story, and I mean ENTIRE, story revolves around ONE real estate deal. No other action is involved nor do any of the other characters bring in any story from another perspective. The H slowly does elvolve but in my opinion it's really too late to save the story. I won't be reading any of the other books in the series since I'm sure they follow the same format. What a strike out!
I had this book in hoopla and it was all right story plot. Maxon and Keeley are truly attracted to each other. There are times of quite interesting banters and you would be cloud 9. And you do end up rooting for them to be together. The story seems to be dragging a bit yet I do love the audio for this book which is only Christian Fox. He did a great job doing the male & female voices. I believe this is a stand alone book however I am thinking about continuing on anyways. I am a little hooked...maybe when I have a chance, I’ll read the next books that is about his bro and sis’s love lives! Ha!
Cannot wait to read the next installment. I feel like I am watch their lives unfold in great literary form
Didn’t see that coming! What a fabulous story! I was riveted from the first chapter! Great novel! Try it; you’ll be glad you did!
I loved Keeley and Maxon! I never would have imagined enjoying a book told almost exclusively from the H pov, but I really did! Funny, sweet, sexy, AND it actually surprised me in the end...which is almost unheard of in romances! The songs named in the book are great too!!!
I read this story about 6 months ago and just reread it again. Maxon’s attraction to Keeley feels a little forced. The fact that she falls for him - even after his crazy proposition to her - is a bit of a stretch. But somehow the author makes it work and I wind up rooting for them anyway. I bought the rest of the series because I’m curious about how the other siblings fare. This might not be my favorite love story ever, but it’s enough to get me hooked on the Reeds!
