I don’t think it’s supposed to be some great epic novel or anything. I was just hoping for a bit of entertainment. This author is very hit and miss for me so I figured there was a chance I’d enjoy it. It’s not actually bad, it’s just annoying.
The escort dude has to be a complete idiot because he’s constantly worried about money. He made $8,000 in one night but a couple weeks later he’s stressing about money. I realize Seattle is expensive but he’s got a bunch of roommates so his rent can’t be over $1000. Even with a car payment and tuition or student loans the 8 grand should have lasted awhile. It’s unrealistic for him to be worrying about money again in a couple weeks.
The hockey player is too naive and wishy washy to actually be a grown up that has ever done anything with anyone. It’s ridiculous.
So, both characters are annoying fairly quickly. It’s hard to hold my interest that way. Maybe I’m too hard on these authors, I dunno. I just wanna read something that’s reasonably believable. If I was reading fantasy, where there’s magic, or a paranormal romance I’d expect things to not be like every day life. But these guys are supposed to be kind of regular people (if uber rich athletes are regular), so they should behave accordingly is all I’m saying.
Luca
by L. A. Witt
Hockey season is over, and that means one thing—returning home to my empty condo. With nothing to distract me from this loneliness, it’s going to be a miserable summer.
Then I hire Luca for one night.
At least, it was supposed to be one night.
Luca
Ethan isn’t like my other clients (not that I have many these days). He’s nice. He’s genuine. He doesn’t treat me like I’m here to earn my pay.
When he asks me to make this a regular thing for the summer, my wallet doesn’t leave me much choice.
But I’m pretty sure my heart isn’t supposed to get involved.

Learning about The Emerald City Gentlemen’s Club in their town was an eye opener. Better than the one night encounters, and no true relationships he would relish.. For those rendezvous he worries about being outed by a money hungry guy exposing their encounter to the press….This knowledge was wonderful….Hiring an escort who is vetted and safe……What could go wrong?
Then he chooses Luca for one night……what could go wrong?

I agree….Great Summer Read!!!
Although one has to suspend belief at the alliance between a young man paying bills by being an escort and a lonely gay hockey player, their relationship develops into a love story with a happy ending. Nice M/M sex scenes too.
One of the first this year that I couldn't put down,or want to end. Brilliantly done. Thank you Karle White.
I'm a sucker for stories like Ethan's and Luca's. So, sue me. Pro hockey player and college student making ends meet as an escort. Ethan's life has been all hockey for so many years but he's reached a point where he's, well, lost. It's now the off season and he has no one to come home to, no one real in his life to be with. A teammate suggests a very exclusive escort service... The first time Luca comes to his door doesn't go well. Ethan's changed his mind, can't go thru with it. Lucky for us readers who live HEAs, they get a do-over. Really loved this story.
