I enjoyed this one in the beginning and then it just seemed to go on and on and on… you get the picture.
Layover
by Becca Jameson
It was supposed to be a one-night stand with a buff Delta.
A chance to experience the forbidden.
Her parents would never approve. Her mother’s heart is set on her marrying a Guatemalan.
But Jason rocked her world, and she can’t get him out of her mind months later.
The chemistry… The way he made her feel… The control…
When he steps into her path again, she can’t resist the temptation. She won’t.
Someone is stalking her though, threatening her new relationship.
The last thing she expects is to be kidnapped from her own home.
She has no idea where she is, and there are no guarantees Jason will find her in time.
Jason
No way was he going after a woman who snuck out on him.
No matter how good the sex was or how well they connected.
He needed to focus on his last few months in the Army.
But she was never far from his mind, and now he’s moved to her town.
He’s not about to let her slip through his hands a second time, but is she using him?
He’s been screwed over before. He won’t make the same mistake twice. On top of that, a secret admirer is sending Libby gifts.
When she disappears, Jason finds himself racing against the clock to find her.
He won’t give up, not on her, nor on their relationship.
Reviews
Great book! All of her books are good! I am hooked, now on to the next book in this series.
I received this book as an ARC group member in exchange for an honest review.
Libby and Jason meet and the attraction is instant. They have a brief fling until they keep coming together. It’s obvious that the SEALfriends and the FLIGHT ATTENDANT friends will begin to pair off. As the story unfolds, Libby finds that she has a stalker and the worst thing you can do is stalk the woman of a Navy Seal and a dominant, this doesn’t bode well for anyone. Watching them finally come together is more of a relief than an excited journey.
I enjoyed the story and wanted to love it, but the whole “stalker/ kidnapping/ /rescue” was so quick it didn’t real feel part of the rest of the story, but more of an after thought. Yes, I loved watching Libby and Jason dialogue and go back and forth (Libby was spunky and full of fire, but not as much as when we were introduced to her in the Delta series) and Jason was a Dom who took a minute to realize that this woman is completely different than what he had in the past. While the intimate scenes were awesome, the story just felt disconnected with the kidnapping/ stalker storyline.
All in all, I loved Jason and Libby. I’m interested in seeing how the rest of the series unfolds.
It didn’t take long for me to like Jason. He’s everything I gravitate to in an alpha male. Strong and fit; a knowledgeable BDSM dominant who’s caring and controlling without being arrogant. I especially liked how he didn’t anticipate Libby knocking him off his guard. And he is guarded. It wasn’t by any specific thing she did; it was the attraction and immediate possessive feelings he felt that stops him in his tracks. He swore to himself he’d never trust another woman ever again (after being burned), but now he’s met a woman who not only makes him look twice but isn’t interested in a relationship. She becomes a challenge to him. I really liked Libby. She’s educated, intelligent, and outspoken. I know this author probably described what Jason looks like, but by ch 6 I had forgotten. As in, not a clue. (Reiterating is a good thing BJ. It would’ve came in handy). For instance, “She ran her fingers through his long/short...black/brown/blond hair and looked deep into his blue/hazel/brown/green eyes. This was a good story that held my interest. It’s a simplistic plot with little depth. The break-up drama was a little high school but I liked the characters so much, I forgave that. Any other drama is rushed, short lived and predictable. The bigoted, insensitive, controlling mother reminded me of the father in MY BIG FAT GREEK WEDDING, but so much worse. I’m not sure if I’ll continue this series but will definitely be watching this author.
Awesome book sizzling
Okay take a family that's principle of having marriages of their own nationalities and throw in a daughter that doesn't have th the same feelings and wants to still be respectful of their parents. And meet a Dom wow good reading.
Wonderful first book in a series. The relationship between Libby and Jason was only D/s in the bedroom which I think is more realistic. Books which claim D/s 24/7 can be too intense.
The kidnapper boyfriend I think was too weak to be running a cartel
3.5 Stars for Layover.. Open Skies is a spin off from Jameson's book in Delta Team Three Series..book two Destiny's Delta. I was looking for to Libby's story she was fun, spoke her mind in Destiny's Delta..this fell short for me in regards to Libby's character that fun feisty character was toned down. Jason aka Hatch is the male lead, he is all alpha, sexy and a Dominant. Libby is a submissive but doesn't see it until Jason brings it out of her. This is not 24/7 D/s relationship between the characters those scenes are reserved for the bedroom or kitchen of Jason's house. Layover has many scenes of sexy time between the sheets. The storyline fell short for me. Stalker who kidnaps Libby then Jason along with his four friends save the damsel. I would of love to see more of that storyline, the rescue scenes could of been more and less of bedroom scenes.
This story just doesn't compare to other stories by Jameson in my opinion. The characters in the book intrigue me so I will continue with the series. Happy Reading!!
