A frightening look at what can happen to the US--indeed to the world--if the "New World Order" is allowed to flourish, completely, not just partially as it is now.
The book was mostly very well written. There are a few (very few) grammar and punctuation errors. "None of them are you." ..."I laid down on the bench..." ..."much like Cedar and I." ...."causing it to lay flat..." ...grave damage on them while they're attention is directed..." ........"anything to lay down on..." ...."to check on mine and Cedar's sleeping habits..."
And huh? "I went back for you CedarWinter..."
Errors in the verb "to lie" are teeth grinding for me. Also, the author used hyphens (without a space before or after) instead of dashes. That doesn't read well.
Dystance: Winter's Rising
by Mark Tufo
Winter doesn't agree. She's stumbled across remnants of life the way it was before The War began and now she longs to be as free as her ancestors.
With help from her best friend Cedar and the boy she is forbidden to love, Tallow. She believes she can do it. Winter can see a life beyond the Pickets, beyond the constant hunger and the threat of death, beyond the war machine.
Can one teenage girl and her dream of a better life really change the whole world?
Reviews
Better than expected. Did not want to put it down! Currently reading second book in the series.
I enjoyed this book as I'm a huge fan of his. For anyone who was reading go ahead and read this first book and second book and a third book you just might as well miss it's just doesn't add anything to the series. But this was an enjoyable book
Very similar plot to Hunger Games but I liked both. Tufo is such a good author you can enjoy this story.
Another Tufo gem in the Dystance crown! Can't wait for #3 in the series. Which is definitely on the way. Amazing characters and a gripping storyline.
I have only read one other book that gave me this type of feeling. I hate to say the word dry but it is the only word I can think of. If you have read Ayan Rands Anthem you will get a similar feel while reading the Dystance books. Like the old movies from the seventies showing post apocalyptical with the sun high, chicadas buzzing and then quiet, no birds breeze anything.
It had been awhile since reading this, finally getting caught up on the series! I had forgotten so much! Can't wait too start book2 now!
I highly recommend this book!
It had me by the first chapter. Winter's character development was a well arched achievement and the overall story arch left me wanting more. I immediately got the second book so I wouldn't have to wait. One of the rare books that have me thinking about the story and characters long after I've set it aside for the night.
