This is a fun cozy mystery with relatable characters and an unusual reason for murder. I enjoyed it very much.

Thi s is set in a small Massachusetts seaside town. Rue has returned to town to run her grandmother’s bookstore when she retires and goes on an extended trip. No sooner does she arrive then a long time friend is murdered and rue jumps in to try and solve it. Fun characters and a quick read. I look forward to reading the next book
Very interesting murder mystery. The story bounces between the mystery of a recipe, of a recent murder and of an old murder from years ago.
The characters aren't as lively as I'd hoped but they're well fleshed and interesting (I just felt they could be even better). The idea of an old murder mystery that reminded the bookstore owner of a book was hilarious as I was a huge fan of Murder She Wrote which is similar in reverse (she writes books based on murders she's solved vs this book solving the mystery because of the book). I enjoyed also that the main character would look at people and pick prefect books- coz as book lovers that's what we do sometimes, match ppl and books in our heads.
I'd like to read more by this author again
This is a fun start for a new series, and if it's about books, I'm there! I love the setting and how Rue had the talent of matching people to just the perfect book. When one of the shop owners was murdered, Rue and her bestie Elizabeth along with their police officer friend Andy set out to solve it. I loved Andy's character being a kind of father figure to Rue.
The side mystery was really cool, a death a long time ago with a possible connection with the current victim, both of which got solved. I liked that any arrests were made off-scene, since it kept Rue and Elizabeth safe. They were pretty good about keeping Andy filled in on what they found out, and the three made an excellent sleuthing team. I'm definitely going to borrow the next in this series with KU too!
I liked the characters in this book. The author developed the story well. The main character is very upset by the murder of her old friend. She is determined to work with two other friends to find the murderer.
Wonderful whodunit with twists and turns with plenty of drama thrown in. Great characters with interesting dialogue and good interaction. Keeps you hooked until the end. Good read.

Rue is working the bookstore while her gran is in Paris on vacation. The bakery owner is dead and Rue had just seen her in the bookstore. The search is on for clues and a few are in the victims purse. The characters are varied and interesting. The storyline hooks you right from the start. Great start to this new series as it has a good base of characters and locale. Very well done.
